DRAFT FOR LEGAL REVIEW

Cooking Journal Terms of Service

Release-candidate draft · October 15, 2026

These draft terms describe the intended product operation. They are not final launch terms and must be reviewed for the actual business entity, jurisdiction, vendors, refund policy, and consumer-law requirements before public launch.

The service

Cooking Journal provides tools for recording cooks, managing recipes, reviewing cooking history, learning cooking techniques, and optionally purchasing enhanced features.

Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate account information and to use the service lawfully.

Free and paid plans

The release candidate offers a Free plan and Cooking Journal Pro plans. Current product pricing is displayed in the application before checkout. Paid subscriptions may renew automatically according to the billing interval shown at purchase until canceled.

Trials

The release candidate includes a one-time 14-day Pro trial that does not require a payment card. Trial access automatically returns to Free when the trial period ends unless a paid subscription is active.

Billing and cancellation

Paid checkout and billing management are designed to be handled through Stripe. The final terms must state the business’s refund, cancellation, taxes, price-change, and renewal-notice practices before accepting live payments.

Your content

You retain responsibility for journal entries, personal recipes, photographs, and other content you submit. You grant the service the limited rights necessary to store, process, display, back up, and transmit that content solely to operate and improve the service.

Cooking and food-safety information

Recipes, temperatures, cooking methods, and educational content are informational tools and are not a substitute for professional food-safety, medical, nutritional, or allergy advice. Users remain responsible for ingredient safety, allergies, food handling, equipment operation, and verifying that food is prepared safely.

Acceptable use

You may not attempt to access another user’s account, interfere with the service, upload malicious material, abuse automated interfaces, or use the service unlawfully.

Third-party services

The production service may depend on third-party providers for payments, hosting, databases, object storage, email, monitoring, and related infrastructure. Those services can have separate terms and privacy practices.

Availability and changes

Features may change as the product develops. Maintenance, outages, provider failures, and security events can affect availability. Material changes to paid features or legal terms should be communicated as required by applicable law.

Disclaimers and liability

The final warranty disclaimers and limitations of liability must be reviewed and finalized for the operating business and applicable jurisdiction before launch.

Termination

Users can delete their account from the Account screen. The service may suspend or terminate accounts for misuse, security reasons, nonpayment, or legal requirements, subject to the final terms and applicable law.

Governing law and contact

These sections must be completed with the operating entity’s legal name, jurisdiction, business address, support contact, and dispute terms before public launch.
